Intracultural Missionary

An HMD Ministry.

Purpose:  The Intracultural Missionary Evangelist's main purpose is to be a planter of churches among the millions of people in his particular cultural field of labor in North America.   This will be accomplished by visiting churches in our fellowship that are located in cities and towns that have these significant cultural populations.  The goal is to establish and leave behind a functional multicultural congregation and repeat the process in another area.

The Need:  We have numerous congregations across our fellowship that are requesting assistance in establishing a multicultural congregation mothered by their local church.  They view the fact that this task is a challenge to reach into specific cultural and linguistic groups.  There is opportunity for multiple bilingual Missionary Evangelists to function under this plan, broadening the base of the United Pentecostal Church International.  They are requesting the assistance of someone that: 1) is fluently bi-lingual; 2) understands both the targeted and the Caucasian cultures, and is able to serve as a liaison between the two; and 3) many are looking for assistance that is either at no cost to their small local congregation or at minimal cost.

Our current Intrcultural Missionary Evangelist is Brother Darrell & Sister Cindy Collins.

Pastor's Appilcation for an Intracultural Missionary Evangelist
(This application is for a Pastor requesting a Spanish IME)

The Means:  The Home Missions Division proposes to send people out known as Intracultural Missionary Evangelists to meet these needs.  This person will need to meet the following qualifications:

  1. They will need to be fluently bi-lingual in order to bridge both cultures and be effective in establishing a relationship and bond between the two language and culture groups.
  2. The evangelist will have to have a good grasp of the specific cultural mission field of North America in order to be able to function as a church planter.  The various cultures within the North American population is different that the indiginous population in the related cultural-specific country, and there are ways that one works with them here that are different that working outside North America.
  3. The Intracultural Missionary Evangelist will have to have a good grasp of the policies of the United Pentecostal Church and the Home Missions Division.  He will have to understand that he has a job to do, and be loyal to his commitment to be a €Paul€ and plant a church, train someone to take his place, and move on to the next city.
  4. He will have to be loyal to the Home Missions Division and the United Pentecostal Church International, ethical in all he does.
  5. He will have to be able to work with a local pastor, but at the same time stick to the task of establishing a cultural speaking congregation in that particular city.
  6. Will have to have a love for lost souls and a vision to reach them.
  7. Will have to be someone that can train others to be leaders and soul winners, able to assume the leadership and direction of the congregation he will leave behind.
